Man arrested for attempted kidnapping, meth possession

(KAKE) -

The Wichita Police Department arrested 28-year-old Victor Lara-Aguilar, of Wichita, on charges of attempted kidnapping and possession of methamphetamine. He's currently being held in the Sedgwick County Jail.

Just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an attempted abduction call at a home in the 2500 block of South Roosevelt. When they arrived, officers contacted a 28-year-old female and her 12-year-old daughter.

The investigation revealed the girl was walking alone in the area of 31st and Clifton -- east of Hillside -- when Lara-Aguilar approached her and told her that she was coming with him. Lara-Aguilar then grabbed her arm and started to pull her. The girl screamed, pulled away from Lara-Aguilar and ran to her grandmother's house. The family called police.

The girl gave police a good description of Lara-Aguilar, and he was later located in the 2900 block of South Hillside and was arrested.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.

*The Sedgwick County Sheriff's office says Lara-Aguilar was incorrectly named as Victor Lara-Aguilera initially, but confirm he is Victor Victor Lara-Aguilar.
