A Boulder man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a woman in September.

Andre Alexander Waycott, 22, was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of sexual assault and criminal mischief, according to court records.

According to an affidavit, a woman came to Boulder police on Dec. 12, 2018, and told detectives Waycott sexually assaulted her in September 2018.

The woman, who did know Waycott, said they were drinking in downtown Boulder and that she had about six drinks and did not remember leaving the bar.

The woman said she woke up to Waycott "prying" her legs open and sexually assaulting her. She told police she and Waycott had sex before, but that this time was "different."

Police said the woman showed detectives a text in which Waycott wrote, "I have been thinking a lot about the night that you told me about the drinking and the night I forced myself on you... with the most sincere and regretful heart I am so deeply sorry."

The woman said she and Waycott were "amicable" despite the alleged assault but were no longer intimate and that the incident "hurt." Then in November, he reportedly destroyed some of her possessions.

In an interview with police, Waycott admitted to having sex with the woman that night but said she was "mainly laying there" and "fading in and out." He said the woman did not assist him in taking off her underwear or say anything.

Waycott then admitted to destroying some of the woman's things when he saw her making social media posts about being sexually assaulted, according to the affidavit.

Police also interviewed a witness the named victim told about the sexual assault.

Waycott remains in custody at the Boulder County Jail on $5,000 bond and is set for a formal filing of charges on Tuesday.

He has no prior criminal history in Colorado outside of two traffic cases, according to court records.
