Detectives in Campbell are trying to figure out what led up to a man being shot near the Kirwan Homes apartments. 

Police say they were called out shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday after a man reported that someone had shown up at his home and was shot in the back. 

According to the report. officers got to the home and found 19-year-old Antwan Tarver lying on the floor in only his underwear, bleeding from his back. 

Police say Tarver was able to tell them that he was shot by a drunk man who came out of an apartment at the Kirwan Homes. 

Tarver was then taken to the hospital. 

Police say at that point officers from Struthers and Coitsville Police Departments arrived on the scene to help with the investigation. 

Detectives say while searching Monroe Street they found two shell casings near an apartment. 

When officers knocked on the door, according to the report, a woman answered. 

The report says officers could see a bag of bullets on the kitchen table. 

The woman allegedly gave officers permission to search the apartment, at which time they found a  man, identified as 38-year-old Leon Johnson Jr., asleep in an upstairs bedroom. 

Officers say in the report that Johnson was visibly intoxicated, but told police that he didn't shoot anyone. 

According to the report, investigators searched Johnson's room and found a baggie of marijuana, $446 in cash, and several .22 caliber bullets. 

Police say a shell casing from a .22 caliber round was found on the floor near the window. 

Officers say they also found a rifle and a handgun in a baby's crib, as well as two other handguns in a case in the bedroom. 

Investigators say they tested Johnson for gunpowder residue. In all, police report finding four guns, nearly 90 rounds of ammo, 2.2 grams of marijuana, a scale, and the cash. 

The report says that while checking information on Johnson they discovered that he had recently received two trespass warnings for being at the Kirwan Homes. 

Johnson was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing but was then released with a summons to appear in court. Johnson is expected to appear in Campbell Municipal Court on Friday. 

No one has been charged with shooting yet.
