Freeport woman accused of trying to steal bra, underwear

FREEPORT — A underwear/201612/254484.html">Freeport underwear/201612/012937.html">woman is accused of trying to steal a bra and a package of underwear from Wal-Mart.

Chrystal Fane, 33, of the 1400 block of South Carroll Avenue, allegedly attempted to steal the items on Feb. 6, Freeport Police Deputy Chief Matt Summers said. Wal-Mart employees suspected she was planning to steal items and were keeping an eye on her, Summers said.

When she was confronted, Fane ran and dropped her purse in the process. Her purse contained the bra and underwear, Summers said.

Fane was found sitting in a car on the 800 block of South Galena Avenue, where she was arrested Monday, Summers said. She has been charged with retail theft under $300 with a prior conviction. Fane’s bond is $25,000.
