KJM Library to begin snowman scavenger hunt Monday

The Karl Junginger Memorial Library will begin a snowman scavenger hunt Monday and conclude on Saturday, Jan. 12. Check the library for details. The library has begun its Biggest Loser Challenge. For $10, one can buy in and the winner on March 15 will get the entire pot. Men and women will compete separately. Registration ends Friday, Jan. 4. Visit the website, to sign up. A Cricut Workshop will be held at the library at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. In the workshop, participants will discover all the fun things one can create. Visit the website to sign up. Cook the book will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 10. This month’s theme is soups. Choose a recipe from a designated cook book in the library. Take a copy of that recipe home, make it and bring to the library on Jan. 10. No registration is required.

Marshall library’s paper crafting club to meet Tuesday

The Marshall Community Library’s Paper Crafting Club will meet to make cards and other crafts from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. The library supplies the tools and techniques. Silhouette machines will also be available. On Monday, Jan. 14 from 6 to 7 p.m., the library will host Keto Cook & Share. A cook and share is a way to bring people together to share food and ideas. Everyone brings a dish to share and a container to take some of each person’s dish home. Everyone brings the recipe they used to cook their dish and takes home a copy of all recipes. Keto is short for ketosis, a metabolic state achieved over time by eating food with very few carbohydrates. The keto diet can be a good way to lose weight and break addiction to carbs and sugar. Bring a low-card dish to s hare (along with utensils), the recipe and a container.

Reeseville library to offer story times on Tuesdays

During January, the Reeseville Public Library will hold story times on Mondays, Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 11 a.m. There will be stories, crafts and snacks. There will be story time for elementary age students on Thursdays, starting at 4 p.m. The library will host a beginning yoga class on Wednesdays, Jan. 16 and 30 at 5:15 p.m. Space is limited in the library, so call to register. Bring a mat and a flexible mind. Cook the book will be held at the library on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. Check out a cookbook, select a healthy side dish to prepare and bring the book and dish to the library. The Veterans of Foreign Wars is holding Euchre on Tuesday nights at its hall on South Monroe Street in Waterloo.

American Legion to hold turkey meal Jan. 12

The Waterloo American Legion Post 233 will hold its turkey/gravy with biscuit/potatoes meal on Saturday, Jan. 12. Serving is from 4 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. It is open to the public, The menu includes turkey in gravy, biscuits or mashed potatoes, vegetable, assorted breads, assorted salads, and assorted desserts. The cost is $9 for adults, $5.50 for children ages 5-10. For delivery in the Waterloo area, call 478-4300. The bar opens at 3 p.m.

VFW Auxiliary to meet Jan. 14

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Krause Langer VFW Post Hall in Waterloo.

The Marshall Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the historical society building on Main Street.

Annual ice fisheree set Jan. 19

The Marshall Lions Club annual ice fisheree on the Maunesha River is set for Saturday, Jan. 19. Registration ends at 2:30 p.m. There is a cash award of $200 for the largest fish and $1,000 cash for the first tagged fish. There are other door prizes, trophies and a chance for children 14 and younger to win $100 cash. It is a free fishing weekend so no license is needed. It is just part of the activities planned at Firemen’s Park that day. There will be a snow sculpting contest, coyote and rabbit hunt tournament, cash raffle, gun raffle, bucket raffle, silent auction, outhouse races, candlelit skating, and flag football.


Marshall Community Library offers Senior Meal Program on Tuesdays

Every Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Marshall Library, volunteers will serve a nutritious meal to anyone age 60 or older. All are welcome to stay after lunch for games or other activities. Those who can may donate a few dollars towards this service, but it is not at all required to get lunch. This program is managed by the Sun Prairie Colonial Club, and funded in part by the Village of Marshall.

To make sure everyone gets served, the Colonial Club asks that you tell them 24 hours in advance that you will be attending the meal. Call by 11 a.m. on Mondays to 608-837-4611 extension 113. The Marshall library already offers free senior aerobics classes every Monday at 10 a.m., during which time the Marshall EMS does free blood pressure and heart rate checks.
