New Salem Advent, Christmas Eve services

TURTLE RIVER—New Salem Lutheran Church welcomes all to their upcoming Advent and Christmas services.

Advent services are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings on Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. The Advent services will follow the "Holden Evening Prayer" by Marty Haugen, a vesper service for cantor and congregation. On Monday, Dec. 24, candlelight Christmas Eve services with special music will be held at 4:30 and 9 p.m.

New Salem is located at 7491 Island View Drive NE in Turtle River, 10 miles north of Bemidji on U.S. Highway 71.

United Methodist Church to host holiday concert

BEMIDJI—The Bemidji United Methodist Church will host the L'Ambizioso Duo at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, for a holiday concert. The L'Ambizioso duo is comprised of brothers Brock, a double bassist, and Brayden, a pianist, both of whom are native to northern Minnesota.

The holiday concert is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be taken. For more information, find the Bemidji United Methodist Church on Facebook.

Bemidji Choral plans Christmas Concerts

BEMIDJI—The Bemidji Chorale's 39th annual Christmas Concerts will be held at 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Performances are free and open to the public, but free-will donations will be accepted to offset Chorale costs. Pat Mason will conduct the 50-member community group, with accompaniment by Wayne Hoff.

Will Gunderson, 12-year-old son of Chorale tenor Josh Gunderson, will be a soloist on "Non Nobis Domine" by Patrick Doyle, a piece that was written for the film "Henry V."

The first portion of the concerts will conclude with three songs about roses: "A Rose Touched by the Sun's Warm Rays" by Jean Berger, "Spotless Rose" by Ola Gjeilo and "There is No Rose" by Rene Clausen.

The chorale will perform a rendition of "Jingle Bells" that was broadcast on the BBC some 50 years ago.

As is the Bemidji Chorale's Christmas Concert tradition, coffee, goodies and conversation will begin at the conclusion of the concerts.

Christmas concert at Calvary

BEMIDJI—Calvary Lutheran Church will be hosting its second annual Community Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.

The concert will include a lineup of great musicians, including Kristi Tell-Miller and Miriam Tell, Annalise Aakhus, Caleigh, Kari Pickett and Rachel Munson, along with Bell Ringers from Calvary and Presbyterian Church, Joe Vene, and the Calvary Choir. Come to get into the Christmas spirit through song while supporting the Village of Hope and Calvary's Annual Project. Tickets are available in the church office or at the door. Suggested ticket price is $10, but any donation will be accepted, no one will be turned away!

Community meal at Zion in Blackduck

BLACKDUCK—The next Blackduck Community Meal will be held 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Zion Lutheran in Blackduck, 217 Main St. N. The meal is free and all are welcome.

Annual Advent Tea on Dec. 10

BLACKDUCK—The Blackduck Zion Lutheran Church's Women's annual Advent Tea is set for 2 p.m. Dec. 10. All are welcome.
