Sports briefs: Pacifics’ win streak ends at 13

Despite their best efforts to keep the streak alive, the San Rafael Pacifics finally tasted defeat on Friday night.

San Rafael entered the game against Vallejo on a 13-game win streak but trailing by six runs entering the seventh inning. The Pacifics exploded for seven runs in the eighth to take a lead before Vallejo rallied for a wild 10-9 win.

The Pacifics (24-9) followed that up with an 8-4 loss against Pittsburg on Saturday,

Brent Gillespie and Corey Dempster drove in three runs apiece against Vallejo. Both players hit home runs in the eighth inning, with Gillespie’s staking the Pacifics to a 9-8 lead.

The Pacifics surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first against Pittsburg and five more in the sixth inning to trail 8-1.

Little league

• Jaxon Ryan pitched six strong innings to help guide Novato South 11s into the championship game with a 3-1 win against West Marin on Saturday. Ryan struck out nine hitters while allowing four hits and the one run. Novato trailed 1-0 early but took the lead with a two-run rally in the fifth inning. Center fielder Ava Free made a big defensive play in the first inning, taking a homer away from West Marin. Novato South faces Tiburon Peninsula at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Joe Wagner Field in Larkspur for the title.
