Kill Huntersville self police children

Police in Charlotte say a mother killed her young son and daughter, then committed suicide by jumping from an I-485 bridge on Saturday. 

The woman’s body was found on Old Gum Branch Road, between Bellhaven Boulevard and Mount Holly Road. CMPD says information that officers found at the scene led police to a house not far away. The two children were found there with life-threatening injuries.  Both children were pronounced dead at the hospital. Police on Sunday identified the dead woman as Christina Elizabeth Treadway, 34. CMPD identified the children who were killed as 7-year old Isaiah Miller, and 3-year old Illiyah Miller. Police have not given a motive in the case, or said how the children were killed.

Huntersville Police Say Man Shot By Officers Was Armed, Threatening
Huntersville police say officers shot and killed an armed man Saturday night after responding to a domestic assault call. It happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Gilead Hill Court. WSOC-TV reported that according to police, officers who encountered the man felt threatened by his actions and opened fire. He was reportedly shot multiple times and died at the scene. Huntersville police have not released the man’s name, or the names of the officers involved. They've been placed on administrative leave while the State Bureau of Investigation looks into the shooting. 

Pedestrian Hit By Light Rail Train, Killed
CMPD says a pedestrian was struck by a light rail train and killed last night near South Boulevard and Clanton Road. Police say the person walked past crossing bars and onto the tracks, where he was hit and pinned underneath the train. According to a CMPD news release, “alcohol use by the pedestrian is suspected.”  The person's name hasn’t been released. 

NC Completes Rail Improvement Program 
North Carolina transportation officials say a program of rail infrastructure improvements is complete. The Piedmont Improvement Program was designed to improve safety, efficiency and reliability for freight and passenger rail service between Charlotte and Raleigh. The program included more than 40 rail projects over seven years, including new bridges over highways and 27 miles of double track built between Charlotte and Greensboro.  The state also established two new daily round trips on the Piedmont passenger train.
