Briefs Unveils real estate Center

On Nov. 14, Neal Communities unveiled the new resort-style amenity center at Boca Royale Golf & Country Club, a semi-private club in a 1,000-acre gated, master-planned Englewood community.

The homebuilder held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new facility, dubbed the Resort. The amenity center mimics the architectural style of the homes throughout the community and also incorporates a Bermuda-style flair.

The Resort includes a 2,283-square-foot clubhouse with restroom facilities, clubroom and café, with a full-service kitchen with a freezer, dishwasher, wine cooler, pantry, oven and sink for residents to use. A luxurious spa and 3,302-square-foot pool area offers a lounge area with chairs and tables and a shaded tiki hut.

Other amenities in the community are a state-of-the-art fitness facility and sports activities, including bocce ball, croquet, tennis and an 18-hole 72-par golf course. Homes start in the mid-$200,000s.

Church of Redeemer breaks ground on downtown expansion

Church of the Redeemer Episcopal celebrated a $5 million milestone in its capital fundraising campaign Nov. 5. More than 300 parishioners, civic leaders and neighbors gathered at the 125-year-old church to announce a 2018 groundbreaking date for a multimillion-dollar expansion of the downtown parish.

The first two of three phases of the church’s expansion will begin in February 2018 and are expected to take two years. More than 16,000 feet will be added to the existing footprint of the church, bordered by Palm Avenue, Ringling Boulevard and Gulfstream Avenue, in downtown Sarasota.

The Church of the Redeemer began as a worshipping fellowship of Episcopalians in the mid-1880s. By 1904, the Sarasota congregation had 26 communicants, a building of its own and was officially recognized that year as a mission of the missionary district of South Florida.

Redeemer was admitted with parish status at the Diocesan Convention in 1934. After three moves, remodeling and additions to accommodate a growing congregation, the church’s location was fixed at the corner of Orange Avenue and Morrill Street. By 1944, the current property was purchased for the construction of a new church.

The first services were held in the new church on March 17, 1950. Additions of a parish hall and church school building were completed in 1953-1954.

M/I Homes opens model home and home sites in The Woods

M/I Homes of Sarasota LLC welcomed families, real estate agents and other interested parties to 17 newly available home sites and a new model home in The Woods at Sylvan Lea on Nov. 4. This Grand Opening Fall Festival, at 2076 Misty Sunrise Trail in Sarasota, marked the fifth month of home site development in Phase 2 of the 102-home, tree-covered community.

As guests lined up for a barbecue lunch, they previewed the new floor plans and exterior elevation details that will be placed on 50-foot building pads, within the 90-foot home sites, to ultimately preserve a canopy of mature oaks, palms, pines and much more.

Prospects toured the Crystal model’s open floor plan, which includes an expansive outdoor living area and full kitchen with a countertop fire pit, outdoor fireplace and grill. They also learned more about the 2,100- to over 4,000-square-foot Craftsman/West Indies architectural-style residences, with as many as six bedrooms, four-plus bathrooms and three- to four-car garages.

These single-family homes are priced from $399,000 to the mid-$400,000s.
