NEW CANAAN - The 2017 New Canaan Turkey Trot will be held on Sundayat 11:30 a.m. The 14th annual 5K run/walk begins and ends at Waveny Park on South Avenue in New Canaan.

Proceeds from the race will benefit The Open Door Shelter, which provides housing and emergency shelter to those in need and operates a kitchen and food pantry that provides more than 30,000 meals per month to people struggling to make ends meet.

Race day registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the race starts at 11:30 a.m. The pre-registration fee is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event. Students are selling Turkey Trot shirts and hats, and any small donations are also welcome.

NEW CANAAN — Resident Mary Cross will discuss her new book, “The Emotional Life of Money: How Money Changes the Way We Think and Feel” at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the New Canaan Library.

Cross, a professor emerita and former English department chair of Fairleigh Dickinson University and the author of seven books, examines in the book the deep psychological significance that money carries for all of us.
