Abbott named CEO of UnitedHealthcare

Christopher M. Abbott has been named CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement in Texas and Oklahoma. Abbott will oversee the portfolio of Medicare plans of more than 900,000 seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries.

Abbott joined UnitedHealthcare in 2002 and has served most recently as its Medicare and retirement CEO for Wisconsin and Michigan. Before joining UnitedHealthcare, Abbott spent four years in physician practice management, most recently as the executive director of an ophthalmology practice in Southeastern Wisconsin and director of operations and support services with a large multi-specialty, hospital-owned medical group in Milwaukee.

Abbott also is a retired chief master sergeant with more than 22 years of active-duty service. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Troy State University and Central Michigan University with degrees in psychology, international relations and health services administration.

Partnership to aid breast cancer patients

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) and Avon Breast Health Outreach have developed a new partnership designed to increase access to medical advances and support services for breast cancer patients, the groups said Tuesday.

As part of the effort, OKCIC patients will be offered lunch-and-learn events, support groups, educational materials and a mother-daughter fun night, in addition to breast care medical services.

“We are excited to have Avon funding and support to help us spread the word about the importance of screening for breast cancer,” said Stephanie Harris, OKCIC Breast Care case manager.

Express posts record-setting sales

Express Employment Professionals announced record-setting sales for 2016, with franchisees generating $3.05 billion in sales.

The company also said it helped a record 510,000 people find jobs last year compared to 500,002 in 2015.

“We have a long-term goal to put a million people to work annually, and we are more than half way there,” CEO Bob Funk said.

Sales are up 152 percent since 2009, the company said.

SWOSU hosts career fair Feb. 15

WEATHERFORD — The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology has scheduled a business career fair Feb. 15 at its campus in Weatherford. The event is planned for 9 a.m. to noon in the SWOSU Memorial Student Center Ballroom.
